Alcohol Use Self-Assessment
The AUDIT-C (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test—Consumption) is a self-assessment tool designed to help you identify risky drinking and alcohol misuse. This survey consists of three questions, each pertaining to personal alcohol consumption.
Scoring Instructions:
After completing the survey, calculate your total score by adding the numbers corresponding to your answers for the three questions. Refer to the score interpretation below to understand the range of your score and what it may indicate about your risk level.
Score Interpretation:
0-3 (men) or 0-2 (women): This score is typical for non-drinkers and people with low risk of alcohol-related harm.
4-5 (men) or 3-5 (women): This score indicates medium risk. It suggests hazardous drinking or at-risk alcohol consumption; further evaluation may be needed.
6-7: This score indicates high risk. It suggests harmful drinking patterns; more intensive evaluation and intervention may be required.
8-12: This score indicates very high risk. It suggests possible alcohol dependence; professional treatment or counseling is strongly recommended.
