Before retiring, I worked with the Ministry of Agriculture as a writer for farmers. I now spend my time educating farmers and providing psychosocial counseling to those in stress under TEWWY. At home, I do gardening and also keep local chickens and rabbits. I also spend time worshiping and taking care of my family and grand children. I also engage myself in community activities and I find joy in simple pleasures like watching wrestling.

All the above undertakings keep me a stress free retiree who is not tired.

Christina Mande

I’m 71 years old, retired but not tired, and currently serve as a TEWWY Wisdom & Wellness Counselor. Before retirement, I worked with the Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Government at Temeke Municipal Council as an agriculture and livestock field officer. My main responsibilities involved visiting farmers and livestock keepers to advise them on improved farming and animal husbandry practices.

Post-retirement, I've embarked on several new ventures. I started a poultry keeping project, focusing on broiler chickens. I also joined an NGO called Ekama as a trainee, which works to prevent child abuse in schools and homes. Additionally, I serve as a member of the Council Multisectoral AIDS Committee.

I live with my five grandchildren, whom I adore. My days are filled with various activities. I enjoy gardening, reading, and playing with my grandchildren. I also love attending mass and group meetings at church.

Grace Mshanga

I’m a grandmother of six. Prior to retirement, I worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. My last posting was at the Kilimanjaro Agricultural Training Centre, where I served as a tutor. There, I taught certificate and diploma students, as well as farmers from the East Africa zone, focusing on rice cultivation techniques.

Currently, I reside in the Kigamboni area of Dar es Salaam with my beloved husband and two of my grandchildren. My passion for farming continues in my retirement. On our property, I keep chickens, goats, and some cattle. I also maintain a backyard garden where I grow maize, green bananas, and hot peppers.

Since 2019, I've had the pleasure of serving as a TEWWY counsellor, a role that has connected me more deeply with my neighbors. This experience has been very rewarding for me. To nurture my spiritual life, I regularly attend mass at church.

Margaret Kayombo

I’m a widow, mother of five children, and grandmother to one. I am a retired officer, having worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as an Agricultural Training Officer until my retirement.

After retirement, I chose to settle in the Tabata area of Dar es Salaam with my family. To keep busy, I raise chickens and grow vegetables, which we use for family consumption and sell to neighbors. I also frequently travel to Mwanza to spend time caring for my grandchild.

In 2019, I was recruited as a TEWWY Counsellor, which has significantly changed my lifestyle. The counseling knowledge and skills I learned from TEWWY have empowered me greatly. Even my neighbors now benefit from my counseling services. I'm grateful to TEWWY for transforming my life. I've become a new person, learning to judge situations positively rather than negatively.

Victoria Nakajumo

I’m a widow with two children and two grandchildren. I spent my career with the Ministry of Agriculture, where I worked in the Department of Training and Research as a Technical Training Officer. After deciding to take early retirement from the Ministry, I transitioned to volunteer work before securing employment with Vi Agro, an international organization focused on forestry issues. During my time there, I held various positions before eventually retiring fully.

Currently, I live with one of my grandchildren, who is in second grade. To stay active, I've engaged in several small-scale business ventures, including selling dagaa (small dried fish), spices, and snacks. I'm also deeply involved in church activities, serving as a church leader, coordinating the mothers' union, and teaching Sunday school.

Recently, I've been presented with an opportunity to work as a Counsellor with TEWWY. I find counseling to be a rewarding service as it involves helping and potentially saving people's lives.
