Kukopa ni jambo la kawaida kwani hata serikali hukopa kwa malengo. Tatizo la kukopa ni pale mkopaji anaposhindwa kurejesha. Tumesikia visa vingi vinavyohusu mikopo lakini vingine vimeenda mbali na kumfanya mkopaji akimbilie mafichoni kusikojulikana.

Simulizi hii inamhusu mama wa miaka 65 aliyekopa kutoka taasisi fulani ya fedha, mdhamini alikuwa mama mmoja ambaye alikuwa rafiki yake. Mara baada ya kuchukua pesa alienda bar kuwanunulia pombe walevi wenzake. Pia alifadhili kwa ufahari sana harusi ya mwanaye. Cha kusikitisha ni kuwa ya paliishiwa pesa kabla yakufanya rejesho la tatu. Hii inathibitisha usemi wa wahenga, kukopa ni harusi na kulipa ni matanga.

Mdai alimfuata mdaiwa lakini alisema hana pesa ila ana shamba atawauzia. Kumbe shamba lenyewe alilotaka kuwauzia lilikuwa la kaka yake. Mchakato wa kuuza ulipoanza, kaka alipata taarifa. Mara hiyo hiyo alisimamisha zoezi hilo ovyo. Hatua hii ilimlazimu mkopaji kutamani na kukimbilia kusikojulikana. 

Mkopeshaji akamfuata mdhamini ambaye hakuwa na jinsi zaidi ya kupiga mnada ng'ombe wake. Hali hii ilimuathiri sana mdhamini kisaikolojia. Hata hivyo, fedha iliyopatikana haikutosha rejesho. Ilimlazimu aliyekopwa atafute mbinu nyingine ya kupata rejesho lake.

Mama mtu mzima, miaka 65, unakopa kwa ajili ya vitu visivyo na tija kabisa. Kwanza ni aibu kwa umri wako. Badala ya kuwa mshauri wa vijana kutokana na umri wako, unakuwa kituko mbele za watu. Yatupasa tukope kwa nidhamu na turejeshe pia kwa nidhamu.

The Healing Hands empowers people to achieve financial autonomy by building entrepreneurial skills and embedding skills transfer within the community – alleviating poverty as a driver of ill mental health. Funds raised from the jewelry will help sustain free mental health services in underserved communities and promote the economic empowerment of trained grandmothers who implementing #WHO #mhGAP evidence-based psychosocial interventions. The project provides interpersonal counseling, group talk therapy, and psychoeducation resources, referrals, advocacy and awareness raising delivered through arts.
